A big “thank you” to Dutch journalism for asking interesting questions

This morning I really had to smile reading an article at the Berliner Morgenpost about a Dutch journalist whose short question at a governmental press conference has been watched more than a hundred thousand times by now. He insisted on getting a decent answer from Chancellor Angela Merkel to the question how she could possibly cooperate with a man as finance minister (i.e. Wolfgang Schäuble) who simply forgot about 100.000 Mark in his drawer (see CDU party funding scandal.)

Angela Merkel’s answer: “Because I place my full trust in him.”

That’s political comedy. Can’t get any better.

This is one of those rare moments where in barely seventy seconds it becomes brilliantly clear how things are in our country.
